Description
Palutukon - Water Serpent, The Hopi knew him as Palutukon or water serpent. In Zuni mythology he is Kolowisi, the Great Horned Serpent, guardian of the springs and streams. Beautiful pecked rock pictures of this deity are plentiful in the Galisteo Basin south of Santa Fe, where there were a number of Tewa pueblos between A.D. 1250 and 1692. To the Tewa, this deity was known as Awanyu. Original mixed media on stretched canvas finished edges ready to hang. 20 X 10 X 1
